New range of Havana cigars

I know it seems a bit odd for us to start selling these just weeks before the ban takes place, but we were getting asked more and more and the only place that keeps a good range is the Hotel du Vin but you pay restaurant prices. So we have picked up a small range, which includes Upmann, Montecristo, Punch, Cohiba, Partagas and Trinidad.

We will also be able to take special orders if anybody wants anything that we dont have.

Portfolio tasting

Big thanks to everybody who attended our tasting, we had a record number of people and they tasted through 89 wines from all corners of the world. Our tasting just goes from strength to strength and is now regarded as one of the best tasting's of its kind in the area.

I also want to thank all the lovely folk at the Oxford Street Brasserie for putting up with a troop of weary wine-merchants turning up after the event and providing us with your usual high standard of dinner - one of the best restaurants in Harrogate for sure.

Our next portfolio tasting is planned for the autumn - so watch this space.

Portfolio Tasting
18th May
Hotel du Vin
Tickets 7.50 (and must be bought in advance)

Many of you will have already heard about our up-coming tasting, we are now pleased to announce we will have Gary Jorden from one of South Africa's leading estates talking you through his wines, special interest should be aimed at his 'nine yards' Chardonnay - one of South Africa's best. We will also have along Bruce Jack from Jack & Knox, also from South Africa, explaining his extreme vineyards and tasting his wonderful 'outsider' Shiraz amongst others.

We have a few tickets left if anybody wants to join us.

Wines just in from Greenock Creek

We are pleased to have just received our small allocation of these most highly sort after wines, thankfully the alcohols have come back down to a more reasonable level, after the previous vintage record 17.5% (certainly the highest we have ever seen), anyway these are between 14% and 15% and as ever are unashamedly showy wines.

Greenock Creek Alice Shiraz 2004 - 31 pounds each
Greenock Creek Apricot Block Shiraz 2004 - 34 pounds each
Greenock Creek Seven Acre Shiraz 2004 - 42 pounds each
Greenock Creek Cabernet Sauvignon 2004 - 37 pounds each
Greenock Creek Cornerstone Grenache 2005 - 32 pounds each

Quantities are very small and are offered on a first come first served basis.
