    Sherry is arguably one of the greatest styles of wine in the world and is also one of the most under-appreciated. It is in our opinion one of the most alluring and complex of all wines, with great versatility and very food-friendly. For the age of the wines they are still remarkably well priced.

    We are pleased to announce a very special tasting on Tuesday 22nd October 7pm until 9pm with Bodegas Hidalgo and a very special guest speaker by way of Fermin Hidalgo himself. We will show a selection of wines across their range and serve some simple tapas. Because it will be tutored we will have a limited amount of places available and they need to be booked in advance.

    Established in 1792, Bodegas Hidalgo is one of the oldest Sherry producers in existence, being widely regarded as the definitive Manzanilla house. Passing down from generation to generation, continuity and quality have always been the most important themes for the company, which today uses only grapes from their own vineyards in Jérez Superior.

    The Wines


    Manzanilla


    La Gitana Manzanilla £12.50 75cl - Dry and refreshing with apple, straw and nutty flavours all underscored by a salty tanginess. Lightweight, subtle and balanced. A perfect introduction to dry sherry.

    La Gitana ‘En Rama’ Manzanilla £17.99 75cl - On the palate the En Rama is fresh, dry, salty, light and elegant, complemented by a mouth feel with a touch of bitterness.

    Pasada Pastrana Manzanilla £16.99 75cl - Dry, light, crisp but tremendously complex on the palate. Classic notes of salted almonds and orange peel.

    Hidalgo Prestigio

    Amontillado Seco Napoleón £13.99 50cl - Hues of mahogany and rich hazelnut aromas. Full and long on the palate with subtle nuttiness and a dry and refined finish.

    Oloroso Seco Faraón £13.99 50cl - Intensely rich pervading walnut aromas. The palate is dry, intense, rich and deep with a long and powerful flavour.

    Oloroso Abocado £13.99 50cl - Alameda Full and rich on the palate. Warming flavours of raisins and walnut. Sweet with a lasting,smooth finish.

    Pedro Ximénez Triana £16.99 50cl - Bursting with treacle, toffee, raisins and prunes. The palate is opulently sweet, a velvety texture with flavours of figs and caramel.

    Hidalgo Aged & Rare


    Palo Cortado Wellington (VOS) £29.99 50cl - Penetrating aromas, nutty yet with tangy freshness. One of the great dry sherries. The palate is full rich and rounded.

    Perdo Ximénez Triana (VORS) £69.99 50cl - Very dark with iodine intensity, leaving a very dense tear on the glass and an almost amber hue. Very intense and complex, typical notes of nuts, toffee and noble oak. Dense, creamy and powerful, opulently sweet and intense to the palate.


    Tickets are £15 and which includes tastings of all sherries and a selection of tapas.
