Two in a row..... 2017 Vintage Port by the Symington Family
Seems like only last year we were talking up the latest vintage Port declaration (and indeed it was) but yet here we are 12 months on saying the same things. This is the first back to back declaration in the Symington’s history which really speaks volumes of the quality of this 2017 but also the 2016. The quantities are a third down on the 2016 meaning this is destined to be a much sort after vintage. Similarities are drawn with the legendary 1945. Head Winemaker Charles Symington sums it up pretty well with this comment.
“In my 25
years as a winemaker in our family vineyards, I have never seen a year like
2017. The yields were extremely low, but the concentration and structure took
my breath away. We have made some really remarkable wines."
