2021 Vasse Felix Heytesbury Chardonnay

Virginia Willcock is now one of Australia's star winemakers and the whole Vasse Felix  range is sensational. Heytesbury Chardonnay is her flagship white and while it has a creaminess it is wonderfully fresh as well. It has layers of complexity and even a whiff of white Burgundy. This is classic Margaret River Chardonnay, indeed this is classic Heytesbury as the grapes come of special vineyard blocks on the Home vineyard and Gnarawary Vineyard owned by Vasse Felix. The clone of Chardonnay is Gingin, which is widely planted in Western Australia and while it can be traced back to a block from UC Davis in California, GinGin is now unique in its own rite.
