Chateau Montus benefits from a terroir unique in the South West consisting of steep slopes with large rounded pebbles on top of fine clay from the Pyrennees.' Vineyards are South/Southwest facing which coupled with the warm terroir produces well ripened grapes. Low yields of around 5-6 bunches per vine give concentrated flavours.  Chateau Montus uses Tannat and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes aged in oak for 12 -14 months in 60 - 80%  new oak barrels.

Smooth and deep with notes of ripe red fruit and fine tannins. There is a controlled power in this wine and an elegant lingering finish.

Chateau Montus upset the hierarchy of red wines back in 1985 and was noticed all over the world and nicknamed by some critics as ‘the Petrus of the South West'!
