Mt. Difficulty Wine Tasting - Our first in-store socially distanced wine tasting

    Posted on

Mt. Difficulty Wine Tasting Wednesday 2nd orThursday 3rd September 7pm (for 7.15pm start)

We know we all want to get back to a bit of normality and none more so than us when it comes to tastings and showing off all our great wines. Obviously this isn’t possible yet and while it’s hard to see too far into the future, we still felt we could slip in a few events albeit in a slightly different format. So we are pleased to announce our first wine tasting of the new ‘normal’ upstairs in our tasting room.

The event will be tutored with café style seating and wine served in flights at your table. We are LIMITING NUMBERS TO 12 PLACES on each night which ensures social distancing but still maintains an inclusive sociable feel. For guest safety you will be shown to your table on arrival and hand sanitisers will be provided on every table.

To kick off our tasting series we have chosen central Ortago’s legendary producer Mt. Difficulty. The origins of Mt. Difficulty date back to the early nineties when the first vineyards were planted around Bannockburn and an informal co-operative was set up between the owners (known as The Gang Of Four) to produce wine under one label. In 2004 Mt Difficulty was formed from most of the vineyards that were part of ‘The Gang Of Four’ and began selling their wines as Mt Difficulty in 2008.

The tasting itself will include an aperitif glass when you first sit down and then two flights of three, the first flight showing some of the more unusual grapes on the estate and the last flight will of course be their Pinot Noir including two of the single vineyard wines which we are lucky to have older vintages. Tickets will be priced at £20, so get in touch quickly to reserve a table.

This is the proposed list of wine but may be subject to change:
    .

    Aperitif
    Estate Sauvignon Blanc 'Bannockburn' 2018

    Flight 1
Chenin Blanc 'Long Gully' Bannockburn 2016
    Estate Pinot Gris 'Bannockburn' 2018
Growers Series Ghost Town Syrah 'Chinamans Terrace, Bendigo' 2016

    Flight 2
    Estate Pinot Noir 'Bannockburn' 2018
Pinot Noir 'Long Gully' Bannockburn 2015
Pinot Noir 'Pipeclay Terrace' Bannockburn 2010

We will take full payment on booking but of course this will be fully refunded if the situation changes.
