UCI – Road World Championship 201921st - 29th September. The Bollinger bike comes to Harrogate!
We’re very excited about this international cycling event and though we envisage there will be some disruption the shop will be open as normal and our Tasting Room upstairs will have extended opening hours.
Our friends over at Bollinger, who love all things cycling, have arranged to send their Bollinger bike up to Harrogate. You will see it parked outside the shop from which glasses of chilled Bollinger Special Cuvée Champagne will be served.
NEW! Wine and Cheese Tasting for two or more people. £17.50 per person
More and more we have been asked for wine tastings for couples or small groups of friends. In the past this has proved difficult due to unused wine oxidising and spoiling. We don’t like to disappoint people so now we think we have cracked the conundrum with the aid of a Coravin, a clever piece of kit that pierces the cork with a fine needle and replaces poured wine with inert argon gas thus stopping the wine from spoiling.
Why wine and cheese? We think it’s an irresistible pairing so forget the traditional port (lovely as it is) and enjoy four carefully selected wines (2 white, 2 red) and four perfectly matched cheeses.
Beginners Guide to Wine Course Wed 9th October until Wed 27th November 7pm - 9pm
We have had several requests from our customers and colleagues to run a wine course upstairs in our tasting room. Our own Phil Ball will be running it, who has a wealth of experience having run something similar for years up at Rossett School. We aim for this course to be fun informative and friendly and over an eight week period we will cover basic tasting techniques, classic varietals and gain an insight into some of the wine regions of the world. The wines will range in price from entry level to serious examples of the classic varietals.
We will need a minimum number for the course to run so if you are interested please contact us by either phone or email. The cost of the 8 week course will be £125 which includes all tuition and wine costs
More advanced courses are in the pipeline for 2020 and we will of course keep everyone updated.
Mackmyra Swedish Whisky Tasting Thurs 7 November 2019 7pm– 9pm
We’re very excited to host an evening sampling a selection of whisky from Sweden’s innovative Mackmyra distillery. Founded 20 years ago, Mackmyra is at the forefront of Swedish whisky making and it’s use of unusual woods for maturation produces some cracking malts: It feels to us where Japanese whisky was 10 years ago. Mackmyra ambassador Alex Johnson will be on hand to talk us through the processes. To compliment the tasting we’ll be serving Scandinavian inspired snacks supplied by Balterzens.
Cost is £20 per head which is redeemable against any bottle of Mackmyra whisky purchased on the night.
Places are limited so please book in advance by phone or email.
