2013 Corte Sant'Alda Recioto della Valpolicella
The lengthy production process involved in this magnificent biodynamic Recioto is reflected in its very high quality. Fruit is harvested in September before being partially dried over the winter and then crushed the following February and fermented. It's full-bodied with terrific concentration in the brooding core of vibrant blackcurrants, minerals and kirsch. It'ssweet but it isn't cloying, and there's a neat vein of chocolate noticeable on the finish. One of the great cheese board wines.
