Amazing to think Alheit Vineyards first release was their 2011 Cartology (we drank a bottle a few years ago and it is still as fresh as a daisy!). Over the last decade they have firmly stamped their flag on the elite South African wine map.

From the beginning they set out to preserve and vinify ultra old predominately Chenin vineyards and showcase the character of aged single vineyard wines.
Old vines can be temperamental though, often teetering on the edge of productivity and it is by no means an easy path to make wine from them! They lost arguably their star vineyard Radio Lazarus to extreme drought!

But such is the belief and determination to show off the Capes best old vines the Alheit’s push on and have built a well-deserved reputation to be one of the very best wineries in South Africa.
