Pahi is one of Escarpment’s distinctive single-vineyard Pinot Noirs, made from a small block on the Te Muna Road terraces in Martinborough. A combination of slightly heavier soils and a mix of Pinot Noir clones gives Pahi its own character. It’s a ripe, pure and generous style of Pinot Noir, with plenty of fruit and the unmistakable freshness of a New World wine.
Lovely ripe red fruit on the nose, with strawberry, cherry and pomegranate alongside hints of spice and a subtle savoury character. The palate is generous and juicy, with a soft, silky texture and fine tannins giving the wine shape without making it feel heavy. There’s good freshness running through the ripe fruit, with touches of red spice and a little earthy complexity coming through on the finish.
