Produced from 100% Pinot Noir on the cool, maritime slopes of Hemel-en-Aarde, where ancient Bokkeveld shale and clay-rich soils give the wine both concentration and mineral character. The fruit is carefully selected and matured for 11 months in French oak, 29% new, followed by four months’ élevage before bottling.
Tasting note:
A lifted nose of red cherry, raspberry and wild berries, with hints of dried oregano, cardamom and subtle spice. The palate is silky and finely textured, with savoury rooibos-like tannins, a creamy core and bright saline acidity providing tension and length. The finish is fresh, pure and persistent, with beautifully integrated oak and elegant red fruit.
A beautifully poised South African Pinot Noir, combining Burgundian-style elegance with the distinctive mineral and maritime character of Hemel-en-Aarde.
