2013 Dr Loosen Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese (half bottle)

The 2013 Dr Loosen Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese is an elegant, late-harvest German Riesling from the renowned Wehlener Sonnenuhr vineyard in the Mosel Valley, produced by the historic Dr. Loosen estate under winemaker Ernst Loosen, a figure celebrated for his Rieslings. Auslese denotes grapes hand-selected at very high ripeness, often with some noble rot influence, resulting in concentrated sweetness balanced by vibrant acidity and expressive terroir character. The 2013 vintage displays a pale golden colour with a complex bouquet of peach, apricot, honeyed blossom and delicate spice, occasionally developing the classic aged Riesling petrol/diesel notes with time in bottle. On the palate it is lush and juicy yet fresh, with ripe stone-fruit flavours, slate-driven minerality and a long, refined finish that pairs beautifully with rich Asian cuisine, foie gras or blue cheeses, and offers excellent ageing potential over the coming decade.
