2020 Pedro Parra 'Imaginador' Itata Valley Cinsault

In 2013, Pedro Parra, a renowned soil and vineyard mapping expert, partnered with long-time friend and business consultant Alberto Antonini to launch his own namesake label Chilean wines. Their goal is to create exquisite, unadulterated wines from ancient bush vines in Itata that grow in rich granitic soils. Spanish missionaries first planted vines in Itata more than 500 years ago. Located 500 kilometres south of Santiago, the region benefits from Pacific breezes, moderate temperatures, and cloudy summers. These ideal conditions allow grapes to ripen gradually, resulting in high-quality wines. 

 

Imaginador wine is created using grapes from four different vineyards located in the Guarilihue sub-region of Itata. These vineyards are home to dry-farmed bush vines, some of which are over 50 years old. After aging for 12 months in untoasted oak and concrete vats, the wine is then aged in bottles for an additional 8 months. This results in a wine with aromas of cranberry and wild herbs, balanced acidity, and refined tannins. The distinctive minerality of the granite soil is evident from the initial fragrance all the way to the refreshing finish.
