Lucas van Loggerenberg has quickly earned a reputation as one of South Africa’s most thoughtful and expressive young winemakers. Working with old-vine sites and minimal intervention in the cellar, he crafts wines that combine purity, freshness, and a strong sense of place. His approach with Cinsault is especially admired, bringing out finesse and delicacy from this often-overlooked variety.
The Lotter Cinsault comes from old, dry-farmed bush vines in the Bottelary Hills. Naturally fermented with a gentle extraction and aged in large old oak, it’s a wine of restraint and elegance. Perfumed with red cherries, cranberries, and rose petals, the palate is light yet textured, carried by fine-grained tannins and bright acidity. There’s an underlying savoury, herbal nuance that adds depth, making this both refreshing and quietly complex.
