Caparzo is one of Montalcino’s long-standing estates, founded in 1970 and part of the region’s rise to fame. After being acquired by Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini in 1998, the winery underwent major investment and renewal. With careful vineyard work and guidance from winemaker Massimo Bracalente, Caparzo has re-established itself as a leading Brunello producer.
La Casa comes from a 5-hectare single vineyard on the Montosoli hill, at 275 metres with a southeast exposure. The elevated site avoids mist and frost, while well-drained galestro soils and ample sunshine deliver grapes of real concentration and finesse. La Casa is produced only in top vintages.
Fruit is hand-harvested and carefully sorted. Fermentation is temperature-controlled, followed by extended skin contact for added depth and structure. The wine is aged in French oak—first in tonneaux, then large casks—before extended bottle ageing.
The wine is deep and expressive, with aromas of blackberry and sour cherry, lifted by hints of mint, earth and spice. Full-bodied and layered, it shows fine tannins, bright acidity and a clear sense of elegance. Built to age, but already offering plenty of enjoyment now.
