We have long been fans (and stockists) of grower Champagnes and believe they represent some of the best value and interesting Champagnes in the region. They are artisan made and bottled by small independent family owned grower producers. Because the wines are made with grapes from specific parcels of land and blended in small lots, they have a greater expression of terroir and reflect the individual winemaking style of the vigneron. Grower Champagnes have become increasingly popular primarily because of their complexity and individuality and have become an exciting alternative to the large Champagne houses.
This tasting flight showcases the different styles of grower Champagnes, from the delicate Blanc de Blanc to the more full flavoured vinous styles. We start with an aperitif and then enjoy a flight of five Champagnes accompanied by delicious finger food to go with the wine.
On the menu will be homemade smoked salmon paté, regional cheese and charcuterie and an unusual canapé that Andy swears is a match made in heaven with Champagne! Way back in the early 1990s on a wine trade trip to the region he was served Devils on Horseback to accompany the Champagne. “It was a complete revelation” says Andy, “The perfect pairing which I have enjoyed every Christmas since!”

The wine tasting is untutored and informal allowing you to taste at your leisure. Full tasting notes on your table will give you background information and space to note any of your own observations. We will be milling around pouring wines and are on hand to chat or answer any questions.
