Old, Rare and Extreme - A Very Special South African Tasting Flight, Friday 22 March

Friday 22 March, tables from 6.30pm

The wine tasting is untutored and informal allowing you to taste at your leisure. Full tasting notes on your table will give you background information and space to note any of your own observations. We will be milling around pouring wines and are on hand to chat or answer any questions.

Many of you will know of our love of South Africa wines! So we thought what better way to showcase the New (new) Wave of rising stars than to also look back at some seriously rare wines from our own personal collection of the old New Wave who are now celebrated winemakers.

The wines we will taste will be either from old vineyards (almost preserved as time capsules from when they were first planted) and often planted with vines not on trend. Or vineyards so extreme its remarkable vines will even grow in such inhospitable locations.  Many of these vineyards would have been grubbed up years ago to more profitable or sought after varieties if not for the passion of dedicated and visionary winemakers.

The wines from our personal collection have got fabulous age to them and are drinking beautifully now. This is a rare opportunity to taste these vintages with some of them  fetching well over £100 a bottle (if you can find them!)
