This year is a very special one for us – it marks 40 years since wine was first sold from our Harrogate shop. Back in 1985, the shop was part of the Martinez family of wine merchants. Over time it evolved and changed hands a few times, eventually becoming Harrogate Fine Wine Company – the business you know today. For an independent wine shop to still be thriving after four decades is something we’re incredibly proud of.
To celebrate, we’re hosting a special Christmas tasting that promises to be something truly memorable. Think festive top shelf favourites, all long-time classics from our shelves, and of course it would be wrong of us not to share a few rare bottles from 1985 – the very year it all began. Nick Fisher (@burgundynick) will lead the tasting through the Christmas wines and I will add a few tales (the less libellous ones at least!) from my years in the trade. The 1985’s will be from our cellars as a thank you!
