The 2017 Damien Laureau Savennières “L’Aurore” is a 100% Chenin Blanc sourced from schist-rich vineyards in the Savennières appellation of the Loire Valley. Produced from a frost-affected vintage, only around 2,400 bottles were made, resulting in a rare, one-off cuvée that reflects both the challenges and concentration of the year. The wine is crafted through careful, low-intervention winemaking, with fermentation using indigenous yeasts and élevage designed to preserve texture, purity and mineral expression. It shows the hallmark structure of Savennières, combining ripe orchard fruit, citrus and subtle honeyed notes with firm acidity and a pronounced mineral backbone. The palate is precise and structured, with layered complexity and a long, saline finish. Limited production and strong ageing potential make this a scarce and collectible Loire Chenin Blanc, capable of evolving gracefully in bottle while already expressing the depth and tension characteristic of the appellation.
