2019 Produttori Del Barbaresco DOCG Riserva Ovello 6 x 750ml (In Bond)
One of the very finest and best-known producers in Barbaresco, it is also regarded as one of the greatest wine cooperatives in the world. There are 58 member growers with a combined total of around 100 hectares of vineyards. Produttori del Barbaresco makes nine different single-vineyard (cru) riserva Barbarescos in better vintages. These are all vinified and aged in the same style to highlight the differences in terroir.
The 2019 Ovello Riserva is poised and finely detailed, showing the clarity and balance of a strong vintage. Aromas open on red cherry, cranberry and dried rose, with lifted notes of mint, white pepper and a distinct stony freshness.
On the palate it’s precise and structured rather than heavy. Bright red fruit sits within a frame of fine, chalky tannins, while fresh acidity keeps everything focused and energetic. There’s a cool, mineral edge typical of Ovello, alongside hints of spice and dried herbs.
The finish is long, clean and quietly firm, with lingering notes of cherry, citrus peel and stone. Still youthful and a little reserved, but beautifully balanced and set to evolve with patience.
