The 2022 Château Briatte Sauternes comes from a modest family-run estate in the heart of the Sauternes AOC, made in the traditional sweet-wine style with the classic blend of mostly Sémillon, plus Sauvignon Blanc (and sometimes a touch of Muscadelle).
The wine shows the hallmarks of a youthful Sauternes: a glowing golden hue and an expressive nose of honeysuckle, acacia blossom, ripe apricot, orange zest and citrus peel — sometimes with subtle notes of honey and orange marmalade.
On the palate it’s smooth and luscious yet balanced: expect layers of candied apricot, peach or quince, mingling with honeyed-marmalade sweetness, a gentle waxy or botanical undertone and lively acidity to keep the richness from becoming cloying.
The finish is long and refined, sweet but poised — indulgent without heaviness.
