The history of Château de Fontenille dates back to the 13th century and is enriched by a UNESCO-protected pilgrimage route that passes through its vineyards and leads to neighbouring Abbaye de la Sauve-Majeure. The monks of the abbey tended the vines for centuries until the property was purchased by Stéphane Defraine in 1989. As an expert and president of the local 'syndicat' Stéphane has a deep passion for the Entre-Deux-Mers region and is dedicated to preserving its heritage.

'Les Survivantes' celebrates the incredible resilience of old vines. Despite facing brutal frost in February 1956, these 70-year-old Sémillon vines survived, making up half of the final blend alongside equal parts Sauvignon Gris and Sauvignon Blanc. The wine is aged for six months in 50% new and 50% second-use oak barrels on its fine lees, with regular bâtonnage, resulting in an elegant, richly textured wine with a distinctive waxy character and complex notes of spice.

Displaying a clear and yellow gold hue, this wine boasts a fresh, delicate oak aroma. Its elegant, rich texture is complemented by a unique waxy quality and layers of spice and vibrant citrus notes. The finish is beautifully minerally.
