The Cadoux family acquired Domaine Le Portail, a former monastery, in 1979. The property is adjacent to the walls of the historic Château de Cheverny and is currently managed by Damien and his wife, Delphine. Their wines are some of the best from the Cheverny and Cour-Cheverny appellations in the Loire. Their red is a blend of 95% Pinot Noir and 5% Gamay( a nod to local regulations!)
A very pretty wine with classic aromas of raspberries and red cherries. Slightly peppery on the palate with smooth tannins.
