Enzo Pontoni, winemaker extraordinaire, of Miani has a penchant for perfectionism. He works quietly and tirelessly in his tiny plots of vineyards in the Colli Orientali DOC and is recognised as one of Italy’s premier winemakers.
The 2024 Miani Sauvignon Friuli Colli Orientali shows a bright straw hue with green highlights, signalling freshness and precision. Aromatically it is pure and focused, offering citrus peel, ripe orchard fruit and subtle herbal tones of sage and fresh green herbs, framed by a distinct mineral edge from the ponca soils of Buttrio. The palate is lively and finely balanced, driven by crisp acidity that lifts layers of citrus and juicy fruit, all carried by an elegant mineral tension through to a long, saline-tinged finish.
