Bright, juicy and immediately inviting, this is Merlot with a real sense of energy. The nose opens with ripe red cherry, plum and a hint of raspberry, backed by a gentle lift of violet and a touch of spice. On the palate it’s supple and medium-bodied, with soft, rounded tannins and a lovely freshness that keeps everything in balance.
Lucas van Loggerenberg has carved out a place as one of South Africa’s most distinctive voices in winemaking. Known for precision and restraint, he focuses on vineyard character and purity of fruit, working with minimal intervention to craft wines that are bright, detailed, and full of energy. The grapes for Break a Leg Merlot all come from Stellenbosch but from two specific sites within that area. 70% from Stellenbosch Kloof on predominately granitic soil, the remaining 30% is from Devon Valley grown on rich clay soils.
