La Giustiniana encompasses 110 hectares of vines in the central commune of Rovereto in Gavi. This land was once part of a Benedictine convent, but was purchased in 1625 by the Giustiniani family, a military household from the Republic of Genoa. Wine has been produced from the original 40 hectares of vineyards since then. The Benedictine monks were responsible for cultivating the first vines planted here. Magda Pedrini currently manages the winery and focuses on showcasing Gavi di Gavi's potential from the estate's two single vineyards, ‘Lugarara’ and ‘Montessora’, both located at 300 metres above sea level. Despite their close proximity, these vineyards have varying soils, resulting in diverse expressions of the Cortese grape.

Terre Antiche is created using some of the wine that is not used for La Giustiniana's ‘Lugarara’ and was originally classified as ‘Gavi’, but has now earned the prestigious
