Taylor’s is widely regarded as one of the foremost producers of aged Tawny Ports. Its 20 Year Old Tawny is matured entirely in seasoned oak casks, each holding around 630 litres. Over decades of ageing, the wine slowly acquires its deep amber-tawny colour and develops the complex, mellow flavours and silky, sumptuous palate that define this classic style.
The blend is drawn from Taylor’s extensive reserves of long-aged cask-matured Ports, nurtured in the firm’s cool, serene cellars - known as the lodges - in Oporto on Portugal’s Atlantic coast.
Compared with the 10 Year Old, the 20 Year Old Tawny shows greater maturity: the fruit has softened further, and the spicy, nutty characteristics of long ageing are more pronounced and expressive.
Deep amber-tawny hue. The nose is rich and opulent, layered with complex spicy, jammy, and nutty aromas, lifted by hints of orange blossom and subtle oak from long cask ageing. The palate is intensely flavoured, concentrated, and beautifully rounded, finishing with a long, mellow aftertaste.
