Considered Château de Bois-Brinçon’s signature wine, ‘Le Clos Bertin’ is a rare and beautifully crafted expression of Anjou Rouge. Sourced from a tiny 2-hectare plot, the vineyard is planted with a unique blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon from 70-year-old vines and 110-year-old Cabernet Franc, growing on sandstone over tuffeau limestone. The wine is given a long, careful élevage of 20 months, including a year in 400-litre oak barrels, allowing the depth and complexity of the old vines to fully develop. With no Clos Bertin produced in 2013 or 2014, this 2012 vintage represents a particularly special release. A mature Loire red with impressive character, elegance and individuality.

A beautifully evolved Loire red, offering aromas of ripe blackcurrant, red cherry, dried herbs and subtle notes of cedar and spice. The palate has wonderful depth and complexity, combining mature Cabernet fruit with earthy undertones, gentle tannins and a fine freshness that keeps the wine lively. Layers of tobacco, savoury spice and forest floor emerge with time in the glass, leading to a long, elegant finish. A distinctive and rewarding mature Anjou Rouge with the refinement and character that only old vines can provide.
