2014 Paul Prieur et Fils Sancerre Rouge Les Pichons Cuvee
Pinot Noir might not be the first thing that springs to mind when thinking of Sancerre but it can make exceptional quality Pinot . None more so than the “Les Pichons” vineyard below the famous Monts Damnés hill. Les Pichons Cuvee comes from the upper part of the vineyard where the soil has more marl content due to erosion of the Mount Damnes slope. A small amount of the wine sees new oak the rest is a combination of used oak barrels and old oak vats. The wine is elegant with a lovely core of fruit. .
