Ronco del Gnemiz under the ownership of Serena Palazzolo and her sons is one of Friuli Venezia-Giulia’s leading wineries. She and her fellow wine maker Christian Patat have pushed it to new heights due to their commitment to uncompromising quality through natural viticulture, low yield and focusing on varietal purity.
This grape variety was almost wiped out in the early 20th century due to phylloxera outbreak in Friuli. It was replanted in the 1970's after a campaign to reintroduce indigenous varieties. This wine comes from a small, .7 hectare plot and is aged for 20 months in used oak. Medium-bodied, full of spicy red fruit, firm but fine tannins and good acidity. A refined and elegant wine.
