2019 Produttori Del Barbaresco Montestefano Riserva DOCG (6 x750ml) In Bond
One of the very finest and best-known producers in Barbaresco, it is also regarded as one of the greatest wine cooperatives in the world. There are 58 member growers with a combined total of around 100 hectares of vineyards. Produttori del Barbaresco makes nine different single-vineyard (cru) riserva Barbarescos in better vintages. These are all vinified and aged in the same style to highlight the differences in terroir.
The 2019 Montestefano Riserva from Produttori del Barbaresco is deep, powerful and tightly composed, reflecting both the strength of the site and the balance of the vintage. Aromas lean toward dark cherry and plum, with dried rose, liquorice and a touch of balsamic, underpinned by warm earth and spice.
On the palate it’s broad and structured, with a core of ripe red and dark fruit wrapped in firm, finely grained tannins. There’s real density here, but it stays controlled—fresh acidity and a savoury, slightly iron-like edge keep the wine focused and purposeful.
The finish is long, persistent and still quite compact, with lingering notes of dark fruit, herbs and mineral. This is built for the long haul: impressive now with air, but best approached with patience.
