Crociani is a small, family-run winery based in the heart of Montepulciano, Tuscany. With roots dating back generations, they specialize in traditional styles that reflect the region’s long winemaking history. Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is one of Tuscany’s historic reds—less famous than Brunello or Chianti, but deeply respected for its elegance and aging potential. The 2020 vintage comes from a warm, balanced year that produced ripe, expressive wines.
The wine is primarily made from Sangiovese grapes (locally called Prugnolo Gentile), with small amounts of traditional Tuscan varieties Canaiolo and Mammolo blended in. The grapes are hand-harvested, fermented in stainless steel to preserve freshness, and then aged in large oak barrels—usually Slavonian oak—for about 2 years. This aging softens the wine and adds subtle spice and earthy notes.
On the nose there are classic aromas of red cherries, dried herbs, and a hint of leather. On the palate, it's medium-bodied and smooth, with flavours of tart cherry, plum, and a touch of spice. The tannins are gentle but present, giving it just the right structure to pair with food. There's also a subtle earthy note and a clean, dry finish.
Great with pasta in tomato sauce, grilled meats, or aged cheeses.
Suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
