Wade Metzer's winemaking philosophy centres on his unwavering respect for the fruit. He adheres to non-interventionist principles, employing no mechanical interventions, utilizing indigenous yeasts, and avoiding fining or filtration. Sourcing grapes from various Old Vine Certified blocks in Stellenbosch, Wade has earned a reputation for crafting some of South Africa's finest wines.

This wine, one of Wade Metzer's two single-site Old Vine Chenin Blancs, originates from vines planted in 1964 on the Helderberg foothills. Despite the same winemaking processes , each wine showcases unique stylistic differences that reflect its specific terroir. Grapes are harvested in the early morning to preserve fruit integrity, followed by gentle pressing and brief skin contact. The juice ferments in old oak barrels for 9 months on lees without stirring. The resulting wine presents a subtle bouquet of apple, hay, and ginger spice, unfolding delicately. Its well-balanced palate emphasizes texture over overt flavours, with a vibrant mineral core and hints of citrus on the finish.
