CeniPrimo is one of Ricasoli's three single-vineyard Gran Selezione wines, each highlighting the influence of a particular soil and site. Situated in the southern part of the estate, at 300 metres above sea level, CeniPrimo grows on an ancient river terrace, where silty soils with some clay give a distinctive character to the Sangiovese. Made entirely from Sangiovese, the wine is fermented in stainless steel before spending 22 months in 500-litre French oak casks. It is a particularly expressive wine, combining ripe fruit and floral aromas with the freshness and structure of the variety.
Tasting notes
Deep ruby red, with an expressive nose of blackberries, raspberries and ripe cherries, alongside violets and distinctive balsamic notes. The palate is generous and rounded, with layers of dark fruit, silky, well-integrated tannins and refreshing acidity. The combination of concentration and freshness carries through to a long, savoury finish.
