Viñedos Hontza was established in 2015 as a family venture with the intention of showcasing through their wines the true essence of the terroir. Their wines are certified organic and produced according to Biodynamic principles, and using minimal intervention in the winemaking process.
This Rioja is sourced from vineyards in the Rioja Alavesa region in the Basque country, ituated at an altitude of 600m on clay and limestone soils. The grapes are carefully hand-selected and the wine is crafted using a minimal intervention process. It is fermented spontaneously with whole bunch clusters, resulting in a delightful floral profile. The wine is then aged for 11 months in 300L French barrels and 500L French larger casks.
Classic with ripe black fruits, earth and spice, full bodied, but smooth and elegant, with a long finish.
