A single-vineyard 100% Riesling from the Silberberg terroir in Rorschwihr, characterised by silicified Muschelkalk limestone. The 2021 vintage was cooler than average, producing wines with excellent freshness, while Rolly Gassmann’s long, slow indigenous fermentation and around 11 months on fine lees in large, mature oak tonneaux add depth and texture. At 13.5% ABV, the wine balances ripe fruit with striking acidity.
Tasting note:
Golden yellow, with an expressive nose of lemon, citrus peel, ripe peach and apricot, alongside subtle spice, mineral and honeyed notes. The palate is rich and concentrated yet beautifully fresh, with ripe orchard fruit, bright citrus acidity and a fine saline-mineral character. A touch of residual sweetness is balanced by the wine’s impressive acidity, leading to a long, elegant, gently citric finish.
A beautifully composed Alsace Riesling, combining Silberberg’s limestone-driven freshness with Rolly Gassmann’s characteristic richness and texture.
