The Hayes Family Wines Vineyard Series was established in 2014, proudly located in the Barossa Valley. As custodians of the historic vineyards, they produce classically-styled wines that reflect their unique sites. The 2022 'Primrose' Mataro is made from 100% Bush Vine grapes, grown in the famous Schulz Primrose Vineyard in the Northern Barossa's Ebenezer sub-region. Hand-picked, hand-sorted, and open-fermented, this wine spends an extended time on skins before maturing in a single, seasoned French oak hogshead. It is bottled unfined and unfiltered, showcasing a predominately dark fruit, earth, spice and tar profile. With minimal oak influence, it is a powerful expression of the exceptional fruit and highlights the potential of the grapes. This wine is perfect to enjoy over the next 10-15 years.
