Bruno Sourdais' "Le Clos" is produced by the Sourdais family, who have been cultivating vines since 1850, this wine exemplifies their dedication to quality and tradition.
"Le Clos" is a six-hectare parcel situated on well-drained flinty slopes above Cravant-les-Coteaux. The Cabernet Franc vines are between 35 to 45 years old, contributing to the wine's complexity and depth. Traditional vinification methods are employed, with fermentation in stainless steel tanks to preserve the grape's natural fruit character. The wine undergoes aging in older oak barrels, allowing for subtle oak integration without overshadowing the fruit.
The wine has an expressive nose with notes of red cherries, raspberries, and subtle floral hints, complemented by earthy undertones. It is medium-bodied with well balanced flavours of bright red fruit flavours, soft tannins, and refreshing acidity. The finish is smooth and lingering, with a touch of minerality. 2022 was an excellent vintage.
This Chinon Rouge pairs excellently with a variety of dishes, including grilled meats such as lamb or pork charcuterie and hard strong cheeses, roasted vegetables and hearty pulse casseroles.
