The Lyrarakis estate has spearheaded the explosion of interest in top Greek wines in the UK in recent years. Established on the island of Crete in 1966, the Lyrarakis family has devoted itself to the revival of indigenous, almost extinct, rare grape varieties such as Liatiko, Dafni, Plyto, Melissaki and others, vinifying wines that highlight their unique and distinctive character.
The Liatiko grape is considered one of the top Cretan varieties, grown at an altitude of 650m. It boasts intense flavours of dark cherry and wild berries, with a balanced profile and delicate tannins. Its light ruby red in colour, with impressive notes of wild berries, red fruits, and hints of herbal and butterscotch flavours. The finish is juicy and expressive, making it a perfect pairing for pizza, pasta, or fish dishes in red sauces
