The Lyrarakis estate has spearheaded the explosion of interest in top Greek wines in the UK in recent years. Established on the island of Crete in 1966, the Lyrarakis family has devoted itself to the revival of indigenous, almost extinct, rare grape varieties, Thrapsathiri being one of them. Wines are vinified to highlight their unique and distinctive character.

The Thrapsathiri grapes for this wine come form the single Armi vineyard. After fermentation the wine is matured on its lees in 2 & 3 year old French and American oak for 3 months, resulting in a complex wine with creamy spice, nut, and green fruit notes. Its pale straw-yellow in colour with intense aromas of stone fruits and creamy spices, and hints of liquorice and citrus blossom from the oak. The palate is rich and juicy with balanced acidity and a fruity mouthfeel, leading to a lengthy finish.

This wine pairs beautifully with seafood, a wide array of risotto recipes, and a diverse selection of dishes featuring white meat and cheese.
