Meroi is a family-run estate in Buttrio, in the heart of Friuli Colli Orientali, founded in 1920 by Domenico Meroi and today farming 19 hectares with an annual production of around 35,000 bottles. The wines are known for their elegance and richness, combining generous structure with vibrant acidity and a distinctly full-bodied texture. Fruit for this wine comes from the Vigna Dominin vineyard, prized for its ponca soils of marl and sandstone, and is fermented and aged for approximately eight months in a combination of new and used French oak, adding depth and complexity without overpowering the fruit.
The wine is intense and layered, showing ripe citrus and tropical fruit, subtle vanilla and gently toasted oak, and a rich, creamy palate balanced by fresh acidity. Flavours of pear, apple and lemon zest are complemented by hints of hazelnut and mineral tension, leading to a long, precise finish with lingering citrus and oak notes. An excellent match for grilled or roasted white meats, creamy seafood dishes, risottos, aged cheeses and vegetable-driven cuisine.
