Southend's vineyards are situated beneath the Babylonstoring Mountains in the Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. This slope is noticeably cooler, receiving less sunlight and resulting in a slower ripening process. This particular parcel stands out with its steely and light-footed qualities, setting it apart from other Chardonnay vineyards in the region. The wines produced here exhibit a sparkling clarity, high-toned fruit flavours, a compact structure, and vibrant acidity.
This wine exudes energy and intensity. The high-toned lime fruit, is complemented by sharp notes of ginger, white pepper, and flint. Crushed stones and a touch of saltiness sustain its refreshing appeal. The mid-palate boasts a good weight of flavour, enhanced by bright acidity and a grippy texture.
