A benchmark English traditional-method sparkling wine, made by Dermot and Ana Sugrue from 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir, sourced from selected vineyards across Sussex and Hampshire. The exceptional 2022 vintage brought remarkable ripeness and concentration while the South Downs chalk retained the wine’s signature freshness and energy.

Winemaking:
Fermented partly in 600L and 228L ex-Burgundy barrels and partly in stainless steel, with no malolactic fermentation. Bottled in July 2023 and aged for 32 months on lees, with a restrained 6g/L dosage.

Tasting note:
The nose is open and expressive, showing confit lemon, white peach, salted pastry and oyster shell, with layers of brioche and fine spice. The palate is rich yet beautifully precise, combining ripe citrus and orchard fruit with vibrant chalky acidity and a pronounced saline character. The extended lees ageing brings a creamy, savoury texture, while the finish is long, mineral and electric.

A superb expression of English sparkling wine, combining 2022’s richness with South Downs chalk, freshness and remarkable precision.
