Steeped in history and on the banks of the Breede river you will find Alvi’s Drift. Albertus Viljoen van der Merwe – “Alvi” to his friends was the first South African to score a try against the all blacks on African soil, he also bought land in the Breede River Valley back in the 1920’s/1930’s which is still farmed for fruit and rearing cattle.
Alvi van der Merwe (Albertus’s grandson) is the man behind these wines and 20 years on is still making a fantastic range and is committed to environmental conservation and sustainability.
Their Chenin is crisp and dry, with a fruity nose of peach, apricot, and orange peel aromas. Subtle honey flavours complement the well-rounded, smooth palate. Refreshing finish with zippy acidity and lingering citrus fruit.
