Founded in the early 20th century, the Gil family has a long history of winemaking in Jumilla. In 2003, the great-grandson of the company's founder, Miguel Gil, constructed a modern bodega on the slopes of the Peñarrubia mountain. This region, with nutrient-poor, stony soils, is renowned for producing high-quality, intensely flavoured Monastrell from low-yield, unirrigated vines.
A juicy and generous wine with plum and bramble notes, complemented by hints of vanilla spice and cedar. On the palate, layers of ripe fruit, including blackcurrant, blackberry, and spicy plum and cherry, are balanced by fine tannins and bright acidity.
