A fresh and elegant red Sancerre from Firmin Dezat, made from Pinot Noir grown on the limestone and flint soils of the Sancerre appellation. Red Sancerre is often overlooked in favour of its famous white counterpart, but this is a lovely example of the style – light on its feet, fresh and full of bright red-fruit character.
Tasting Note:
Fragrant and bright, with aromas of red cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry, alongside a subtle earthy and mineral character. The palate is fresh and juicy, with plenty of ripe red fruit, gentle tannins and a lovely underlying savouriness. Light-bodied but with good concentration, finishing clean, dry and refreshing.
A versatile red Burgundy alternative with the freshness to work particularly well with food. Try it lightly chilled with charcuterie, roast chicken, grilled salmon or lighter cheeses.
