Botanica’s Big Flower range comes from organically farmed estate vineyards in Devon Valley, Stellenbosch, where cooler afternoon breezes help retain freshness in the grapes.
Winemaker Ginny Povall makes this Cabernet Franc to show both the variety’s generous fruit and its distinctive savoury, herbal character.
The grapes are fermented in open-top tanks, with regular punch-downs to extract colour and structure, before the wine is matured in French oak barrels. The result is a characterful, full-bodied red that balances dark fruit with fresh, leafy notes and a gentle touch of oak.
Tasting note
A fragrant, full-bodied Cabernet Franc with ripe raspberry and black cherry, lifted by notes of lavender, rosemary and leafy herbs. There’s a subtle savoury edge, hints of spice and a touch of pencil shavings, with bright acidity and firm but well-integrated tannins providing structure. Generous fruit meets a fresh, herbal character, making this an appealing and versatile food wine.
