Casa Castillo’s Monastrell is a pure expression of Jumilla’s high-altitude, arid terroir, from dry-farmed bush vines on calcareous, gravelly soils at around 700m. The estate farms organically, with Monastrell at the heart of its vineyards. Fermentation uses indigenous yeasts, followed by maturation in large, neutral oak vessels, allowing the fruit and Mediterranean character to remain central.
Tasting note:
Deep ruby with purple hues, showing ripe cherry, raspberry and dark berry fruit, alongside black pepper, wild herbs and a subtle mineral note. The palate is juicy and concentrated but fresh, with supple tannins, Mediterranean spice and a savoury edge. The finish is long, vibrant and fruit-driven.
A beautifully balanced expression of Monastrell from Jumilla, combining Mediterranean richness with freshness and elegance.
