The 2024 G.D. Vajra Langhe Nebbiolo is made from hand-harvested Nebbiolo grapes sourced from high-elevation vineyards around Barolo, carefully selected to ensure quality and ripeness. The grapes undergo fermentation in stainless steel tanks using native yeasts, with gentle cap management to extract balanced color and tannins. Fermentation typically lasts around 15–20 days at controlled temperatures.
After fermentation, the wine is aged for about 6–8 months in a combination of large Slavonian oak casks and stainless steel, allowing the wine to retain its fresh, floral character while gaining some structure and softness. Vajra employs minimal intervention in fining and filtration to preserve purity and expression of terroir. The wine is bottled and released within a year of harvest, presenting an approachable and elegant Nebbiolo that reflects the estate’s Barolo heritage with a lively, fresh style.
In the glass, it shows a luminous garnet color, delicate and translucent. The nose is perfumed and lifted, with vibrant aromas of wild strawberry, red currant, rose petals, orange zest, and a touch of anise and crushed stone. It’s youthful but already nuanced.
The palate is medium-bodied with fine, silky tannins and bright, mouthwatering acidity. Red fruit dominates—cherry, raspberry, pomegranate—wrapped in subtle herbal and floral notes. There’s a gentle backbone of minerality and a clean, graceful finish that lingers with a whisper of spice and dried rose.
