Produced by Quinta de la Rosa in the Douro Valley, the 2024 is a declared Vintage Port, sourced from the estate’s A-grade vineyards along the Douro River. The wine is made from traditional old-vine field blends dominated by Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Sousão, grown on schist soils that provide structure and mineral depth.
Fermentation is carried out in granite lagares with foot treading, followed by fortification and a short period of ageing in large oak vats before bottling unfiltered, in line with classic Vintage Port practice. The 2024 vintage emphasises precision, freshness and structural balance, offering both immediate intensity and long-term ageing potential.
Tasting note:
The wine shows an opaque, inky purple core, with a lifted and expressive nose of blackberry, cassis and dark plum, layered with violet, rock rose and subtle spice. On the palate it is full-bodied and tightly structured, with firm, ripe tannins and vibrant acidity providing energy and definition. Flavours of dark berries, black cherry and cocoa are supported by a distinct schist-driven mineral thread, adding depth and focus. The finish is long, powerful and precise, with lingering fruit, floral notes and spice.
